This is the first volume of the collected works of Mara Belcheva (1868-1937). A remarkable poetess in her own right, Belcheva is also remembered for her relationship with Bulgaria's iconic poet Pencho Slaveikov. This volume includes Belcheva's cycles of poems "Footsteps at the Door", "Sonnets" and "Selected Songs", poems previously published only in periodicals, and previously unpublished poems from her personal archive. It also features criticism on her, dating from the period until the 1930s.
