In 2010, colleagues and students of J. Horecky met at the Congress Center of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Smolenice at the conference Man and His Language. The presented papers are summarized in the eponymous publication, which loosely follows the titles Man and his language 1. Language as a phenomenon of culture (Bratislava, 2000) and Man and his language 2. Language as a memory of culture (Bratislava, 2001). The third volume, subtitled Inspirations by Professor Jan Horecky, contains 62 articles in which the authors have repeatedly applied a procedure characteristic of it as well: they pondered the nature of language and the phenomena associated with it, asked questions, and honestly sought answers. The contributions are varied in terms of topics, content and genre and thus reflect the breadth and diversity of Professor J. Horecky's work, his openness to the diversity of scientific opinions and approaches to the subject of research, respect for language and its users.
