"Lviv. The End of Illusions ”is a highly professional historical non-fiction, the first and unique in terms of reliability and scale of the covered material study of the pogrom of the Jewish population of Lviv, which was staged in November 1918 by Polish soldiers. For a century, Polish historiography - for political reasons in particular - has described this tragic event as a series of ordinary crimes committed in wartime chaos by Ukrainian and even Jewish bandits and deserters from the Austrian army. Grzegorz Gauden challenges this interpretation and convincingly proves that the wave of Jewish pogroms in which Poland hailed its independence was not accidental.
