Modern tendencies and contradictions of the development of the local self-government system in interethnic communities are analyzed in the monograph. The volume is based on the sociological surveys carried out in ethnically-mixed (Mansi, Khanty, Russian and other ethnic groups) settlements of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area. The development of the local self-government system is considered as dependent on such factors and conditions as settling, ethnodemographic situation, interethnic relations, social, economic and political situation, living standards, interrelations between ethnic cultures. The ways of improving the system of local administration are offered.
