Nestor Kotlyarevsky (1863-1925) was a famous Russian expert in literature and a pedagogue. He was also the first director of Pushkin’s House (1910-1925). Kotlyarovsky’s methodology is characterized by his aspiration to cultural, historical and psychological explanation of the phenomena in literature. The book is dedicated to description of literary process in Russia in the first quarter of the XIXth century, as well as to the analysis of creative work of V.A.Zhukovsky, K.N.Batushkov, A.S.Pushkin, poets of the Pushkin “pleiad”, I.A.Krylov, A.S.Griboyedov. The period is examined in the context of history of Russian and West-European literature of the past and that of the future.
