The study, published by the Institute of Literature, Folklore and Art of the University of Latvia, is the first monograph-sized study in ecocriticism. It focuses on how Regina Ezera (1930–2002) creates natural cultures in her short prose – textual worlds in which nature is not just a passive backdrop or environment for events, in which humans and nature do not exist side by side, but in reciprocal interaction.
