The book is a comprehensive fundamental study related to one of the main areas of modern medieval studies Slavic hagiography. The first part of the book is devoted to the personality of the Venerable Euphrosynus of Pskov and the twists and turns of his fate that happened to him both during his life and after his death. In the 1860s, Klyuchevsky discovered in the manuscript collection of the Solovetsky Monastery, then stored in the Kazan Theological Academy, the original edition of the Life of Euphrosynus of Pskov, which changed the ideas about both the factual side of the hermit’s life and his heresy, as well as about etiquette in ancient Russian hagiography, to which the second part of the book is devoted.
