Dr. Georgi Valkovich is among the most interesting figures in the post-liberation Bulgarian reality. Heir to a large and wealthy family, living on the border of two epochs, he developed an active professional activity in both the Ottoman Empire and the Bulgarian Principality. He felt equally competent as an imperial military doctor, East Rumelia director, state minister, hospital administrator. But diplomacy is his destiny. Strong mind, strong-willed character, at the same time dialogical and conciliatory, he remains in history as one of the most notable and irreplaceable diplomats of the new Bulgaria.
