This is a collection of short stories in isiZulu that were written by first-time women writers. It is the result of one of the projects undertaken by the University Language Planning and Development Office at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. This office challenged new women writers to make their contribution to literary works and allow their voices to be heard. In accepting this challenge, the participants wrote about themes that directly touch their lives, including love, gender-based violence, education, human rights, witchcraft, culture, and the killing of people with albinism. In this collection we see women breaking the silence about what is deep-rooted in their hearts.
