The sixth edition of the series of small dialect dictionaries contains more than 7,000 words from one archaic and special northern coastal dialect, with usage examples and written explanations. It contains a diverse range of language material for coastal residents and holidaymakers, coastal language learners, teachers and researchers, as well as everyone else interested in the language and culture of the coastal people of Kuusalu. The language of the coastal people of Kuusalu, especially the old dialect of the main beach, differs considerably from the average North Estonian dialect that prevailed in most of the parish. At a time when dialect was not favored, the continuity of coastal dialects suffered greatly. The authors of the dictionary are pleased to honor the coastal fracture again and to introduce it more widely. We also want to value both good former language leaders and current survivors of dialects.
