The collection combines the most exciting memories, outlines and stories of those Kuban people who participated directly in the battle for Berlin since April 16 till May 9, 1945. About 150 000 Kuban soldiers took part in the battle in the ranks of the 1st Belarusian, 1st Ukrainian and 2nd Belarusian Fronts, as well as the 9th riffle corps of general Ivan Roslyi and the 301st riffle division of general Vasilii Antonov, that occupied the Berlin imperial chancellery and "Fuhrerbunker" of Hitler and Goebbels, Gestapo's area, the Ministry of German Air Forces and other important governmental buildings. Copies of award lists of soldiers given the rank of the Hero of the Soviet Union in shifts are included.
