For the first time, this book provides a chronological compilation of the archival documents and literary materials (text fragments from books, journals and newspapers, published memoirs and letters, and also unpublished materials from the archives of the Museum of the Kazan Chemistry School) documenting the main stages of the formation and development of the chemical laboratory of the Imperial Kazan University and Kazan Chemistry School. Introduction contains fragmental information on a history of national chemistry, and mainly on higher chemical education of XVII–XVIII centuries. Some general issues of public, cultural and scientific life concerning all Russian universities are also discussed. The majority of the archival documents are being published for the first time.
