On the basis of rare archival and other published materials the book sheds light upon the process of forming of different Cossack formations on the territory of Bessarabia and Transdniestria during the XVIII-XIXth centuries. Special attention is paid to the historical succession of these formations. The policy of the Russian Government towards Cossacks is analyzed by the author as well.
