The monograph is devoted to the study of a number of poorly studied problems of Karachay-Balkarian Nartiad, including to questions of national-genetic sources, a historicism and originality of the given national version of nart epos. As a comparative material the author involves texts and researches on Turkic runic monuments of VI-IX centuries, North Caucasian texts of a heroic epos. The special attention is given also to the analysis of the scientific-theoretical literature on Karachay-Balkarian nart epos study.
