Karin Boye (1900–1941) is an outstanding Swedish writer whose work had a significant impact on the further development of Swedish literature. The novel "Callocaine", first offered to the Ukrainian reader, is perhaps the most famous work, the last of all its significant achievements. "Callocaine" appeared in 1940, a year before the writer's death, and became an important participant in the literary dialogue of the then anti-utopias - "We" by Eugene Zamyatin, "The Beautiful New World" by Aldous Huxley and the epoch-making "1984" by George Orwell. nine years after "Callocaine" and which in its style and problems is almost close to the magnum opus of the Swedish writer. Because in both novels there is a gloomy prophecy of the future of world civilization, where huge conglomerates of states endlessly wage "cold" or "hot" wars, which are really just one war for power over their own people.
