All the more, the archives have no manuscripts of the first and the second novel's volumes. The author of the book, the famous Moscow journalist, who dedicated the main part of his life to collecting the evidences of the friends and the acquaintances of Sholohov describing the process of creating the novel. He found the first, and the second volumes' manuscripts and versions written by the author. He analyses all this information and shows a huge amount of work performed by Sholohov when writing this grand epopee.
