The book was compiled by Anta Bergmane, a former member of the group "Helsinki-86" and associate of Juris Ziemelis. It publishes a story based on historical documents, essays by contemporaries, fragments from Ziemelis' diary and letters from prison. The publication is supplemented by photo materials and other testimonies of the era. Juris Ziemelis's activities in the resistance movement were not long-lasting, but they were memorable to his contemporaries. Having experienced deportation to Siberia with his parents as a child, he returned to his homeland and already in the late 1950s founded a youth group that planned to raise the Latvian flag in the center of Bauska. After multiple prison sentences for political activities, he continued to communicate with other participants in the resistance movement. In August 1979, as one of 45 Baltics, Ziemelis signed a protest document, also known as the "Baltic Memorandum" - this turned out to be an important step on the path to Latvian independence.
