One of the most common themes in popular humor magazines during the Single Party era was "Jewish jokes" and "Jewish caricatures." The caricatures, which portray an ordinary Jewish couple known as Salamon and Rebeka, have a common anti-Semitic character. The caricatures bear a striking resemblance to those depicting Jews published in Nazi Germany. Hook-nosed and thick-lipped, Salamon is portrayed as someone who speaks Turkish with an extremely accented accent due to the Judeo-Spanish he speaks in daily life, and as someone who dislikes bathing. Salamon is not only ugly; he is also a stingy and deceitful individual driven by the idea of "how can I make more money by deceiving the public?" This compilation, accompanied by such caricatures, portrays the period 1941-1944, when non-Muslim men were forced to work as nafia soldiers and subsequently subjected to the discriminatory practices of the Wealth Tax Law.
