What is the memory of the symbols and texts preserved on the tombstones of Jewish cemeteries? Can the information they pass on to future generations be compared with the testimony of other sources depicting traces of the life of Jewish communities in southern Bohemia? During the 20th century, many of these monuments succumbed to targeted devastation and indifferent disinterest. Nevertheless, almost ten thousand Jewish tombstones from the 16th to the 20th century can be found in the South Bohemian region.
