The book is dedicated to the history of creation and development of the jeweler’s art in Petersburg from the moment of the city’s rise and till the October revolution. The edition consists of six chapters, each of which is dedicated to a particular chronological period of the art’s development in Petersburg. Basing on archival and literary sources, the author speaks about the leading jewelers and analyzes their activities. The supplement contains extracts from the imperial orders and from “Saint-Petersburg Bulletin” for the XVIIIth century relating to the jewelers and their lives, as well as to purchase and sale of the jewelry at that time.
