Jerzy Plesniarowicz (1920-1978) was a poet, translator of Belarusian, Czech, Russian, Slovak, and Ukrainian literature, theatre and radio director, and cultural organizer. He was associated with Lublin, Krakow, and later Rzeszow. He debuted as a poet and translator in 1937 within the Lublin avant-garde. For many years, he served as literary director of the Wanda Siemaszkowa Theatre in Rzeszow and founded the Rzeszow Branch of the Polish Writers' Union. Between 2018 and 2023, eight volumes of his Writings were published: approximately seven hundred poems and translations of poems, translations of over one hundred short stories, two novels, and twenty-six dramas, as well as nearly fifty adaptations and scripts for theatre and radio.
