A collection of works by renowned Bulgarian literary critic Ivan Bogdanov (1910-1992), first published in periodicals between 1945 and 1946. The book includes 43 articles, literary reviews, and essays showing Bogdanov's free thinking and his refusal to succumb to pressure and fear in the early years of the communist regime in Bulgaria. He was a champion of the autonomous status of literature and writers. In 1947, the communist government banned Bogdanov's works and he was effectively ostracized until 1960. Today, he is remembered for such important books as "13 Centuries of Bulgarian Literature" and "Bulgarian Books over the Centuries", and for the encyclopedias and reference books he compiled.
