Russia and Italy have long-standing cultural and historical ties. They are mentioned in the Russian chronicles of the XIIIth century. In different centuries Russian ambassadors established relations with the papal Rome, Piedmont, Naples, Venice and Genoa Republic, the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, and in 1861 with the Kingdom of Italy. Surprisingly over the past 300 years having no real grounds for conflict the two nations five times crossed their arms. The edition is devoted to the famous and little-known history of relations between Italy and Russia.
