A joint project of Belarus Publishing House and the National Art Museum of Belarus. The series presents more than 30 artists from Belarus, whose works are exhibited in the permanent exhibition of the National Art Museum and other museums around the world.
Isaac Yulievich was born in Vitebsk, and this city, its beauties and the people the artist met were the source of his inspiration. The future master of the brush received his first creative instructions in the studio of Yuri Pen. Many years later, he will paint a picture depicting his first teacher. Isaak Borovsky is called a virtuoso of painting. He worked in different genres, but he showed himself most clearly in portraits. They differ in juicy, saturated color, plasticity of the composition. And the artist considered his future wife, transferring the features of her face to paper.
“When we met, he offered to paint my portrait, and then I often posed for him,” recalls the widow of the painter Antonina Moiseeva.
And the artist wrote “The Woman in a Shawl” from her friend, Galina Chernaya, who told how Isaak Yulievich asked her to put on a shawl and put her hand on the armrest at ease. The works of Isaak Borovsky are in the National Art Museum, in the funds of the Belarusian Union of Artists, institutions and private collections of our country, as well as Germany, the USA, Israel, Poland. The regional museum of local lore contains more than a hundred paintings and graphic works.
