Isa Suyunovich Kapayev (b. 1949) is a Nogai writer and publicist, People’s Writer of Karachay-Cherkessia, and Honored Cultural Worker of the Russian Federation. In 2021, he was awarded the Grand Literary Prize of Russia for his novel Samanta.
This monograph offers a comprehensive study of Kapayev’s multi-genre body of work. Divided into five parts, it analyzes the evolution of the author’s creative trajectory through the lens of a recurring protagonist — his alter ego — thereby revealing the dialectics of self-realization and artistic development in his writing.
