The famous Ipatiev Monastery is not only an architectural masterpiece, but also the cradle of Romanov's family. Here a 16-year-old Michael Romanov got the news that he had been elected the tsar of Russia. The monastery was founded around 1330 at the confluence of two rivers - Volga and Kostroma. Its architectural ensemble was formed during the XVth-XIXth centuries. This vividly illustrated book provides information on the architecture and the history of the shrine.
