1933 year. A five-year-old boy moves with his family from small village to the suburbs of Vinnytsia, the so-called Old City. There, in the past, a carefree childhood, the mother's grave, which the little one did not remember, and the faithful dog Shumka remain. In the present there is a reliable friend Kostyk and a bunch of mischievous adventures and important things, while the boys grow up, study, gain intelligence, learn good and evil... until the war begins.
