This manual is aimed at introduction of a new academic discipline - gender studies which deal with various aspects of social relationship between the sexes. Gender problems are presented here in the context of both traditional in the former Soviet Union social sciences (sociology, philosophy, linguistics, etc.) and the disciplines, which are new (ecology, anthropology, cultural studies, feminism). The history of gender thought highlights the problems of prejudice and stereotypes, women liberation, struggle against discrimination and pornography. The book also presents the ideas of world-famed scholars, such as Z.Freud, J.Lacan, concerning the problem.
