Jagor Bucan's theoretical work in the field of art theory - primarily painting - has for years been an important and, I would say, entirely unique contribution to our art theory. Bucan is one of the few artists who engages in theoretical considerations, doing so while respecting the autonomy of the methods used in artistic theory.
In this way, in his texts there is a combination of knowledge resulting from practical knowledge of painting with a theoretical glossary that is constantly enriched by application in new contexts. Bucan authentically contributes to the theoretical understanding of the work of art, first of all examining the term "qualities", or, in other words, what makes the work of art itself and not something else.
