The number of agreements on the transfer of rights to use intellectual property objects is growing annually in Belarus. The largest share falls on license agreements. However, the growth in the number of franchise agreements is indicative for the development of the national economy, since it is they that allow attracting large world brands to the country.
Alexander Shumilin gives several examples of the successful work of Belarusian organizations in the commercialization of intellectual property objects. The Research Institute of Physical and Chemical Problems of the Belarusian State University has 45 licensing agreements, which brought about $ 400,000 in revenue. Polotsk State University received royalties from abroad in the amount of about 1 million euros for only one development, "Instrument for the Express Analysis of Petroleum Products".
According to the National Statistical Committee, the export of services in the field of payment for the use of intellectual property in 2018 amounted to $ 65.7 million, which is almost three times more than in 2015. The volume of exports of computer services in 2018 amounted to $ 1.585 billion - almost twice as high as in 2015.
