This is a book of insights about the Bulgarian people provided by Georgi Stoikov Rakovski (1821-1867), the founder of the organized revolutionary movement for Bulgaria's liberation from Ottoman Turkish rule, a writer, poet and journalist. One might wonder why Rakovski is relatively unknown nowadays, unlike other figures of Bulgaria's National Revival. Could it be because his language is outdated? There must be more to it.
