A.M. Pozdneev, a prominent Russian Mongolian scholar, religious historian, anthropologist, traveler, and member of the Imperial Russian Geographical Society of that time, studied Mongolia and the Mongols during his two trips to Mongolia, kept meticulous diaries, and later compiled and published them as a book, which became a highly respected work in Mongolian studies and Mongolian Buddhist studies. The eighth chapter of the first volume of A.M. Pozdneev’s two-volume work “Mongol oron ba Mongolchuv” (1896, 1898) is entitled “Incarnations of Javzandamba Khutugts”. In this chapter, the author wrote the biographies of the 8 Bogds of Mongolia, starting from the first Bogd Undur Gege to the eighth Bogd, based on the notes he had heard, studied, and collected, as well as the documents he had collected.
