At the beginning of the 20th century, the peaceful life of the Belarusian people was disrupted by the military events not only of the First World War, but also of the Polish-Soviet War. The minds of several generations of Belarusians, Russians and Poles are alarmed by this tragic armed confrontation, since more than two million people passed through that fleeting war, and the losses amounted to tens of thousands of killed, wounded and captured.
The book of well-known researchers E.I.Khoroshevich and A.V.Sharkov objectively covers the main events of the Polish-Soviet war of 1919-1920, as well as, with the help of up-to-date photographic material, presents to the public burials and memorials to the fallen soldiers of the opposing sides, critically illuminates their current state.
For several years, the authors painstakingly collected material: they studied archival documents, talked with many people, visited the burial places of Soviet and Polish soldiers in Belarus and Poland, prepared a large photographic material.
