The edition is the first attempt to present a gallery of Anna Akhmatova’s portraits starting from 1911 until the mid-1960s. The poetess’s archives still contain the so-called “Stripped Note-book” with the poems dedicated to her. A characteristic feature of this collection is that it conveys the “run of time” through its reflection in “a hundred mirrors”. The edition is based on the same principle - the “mirrors” are the portraits of Akhmatova created during half a century by artists of different trends.
