The main character of the novel is a former army intelligent service officer, who has been bed-ridden for many years. Television is also lying by broadcasting news of the 1970s, when Brezhnev still rules Russia. Yet, the old warrior guesses that he is being deceived and undertakes an effort to handle his fate himself.
