The history of Galician Jews goes back to more than a thousand years. Over the centuries, the Jewish population has been the most numerous in this region of Ukraine after the Poles. The Jews had brought with them the ancient material and spiritual culture that gradually assumed its local features. It is difficult to show our contemporaries how turbulent the Jewish life in this region was. Up to the present time, L'viv museums and private collections have kept a lot of fine and applied art objects - silent witnesses of centuries of the Jewish history in Galicia.
