The history of Galician Jews goes back more than a thousand years. Over the centuries, the Jews population has been the most numerous in this region of Ukraine after Polish one. The Jews had brought with them the ancient material and spiritual culture that gradually assumed its local features. It is difficult to show to our contemporaries how turbulent the Jewish life in this region was. Up to the present time, L'viv museums and private collections have kept a lot of fine and applied art objects - silent witnesses of centuries of the Jewish history in Galicia. The reader of the book can get acquainted with a part of the Jewish world. Biographies and artistic works of Ukrainian Jews are presented in the book based on a rich archival material.
