This edition is a continuation of the book of scholarly papers with the same title, No. 1, and is dedicated
to the memory of Ekaterina G.Devlet, an outstanding Russian rock art researcher. The book contains
memoirs and photographic materials about E.G.Devlet, her last papers (with co-authors) and a list of
her publications, as well as papers by her colleagues and friends on various aspects of the study of early
forms of art, such as cave art, rock art, monumental art and applied arts. New materials are published;
the results of the analysis of art traditions, and the attribution and interpretation of some categories of
objects are given; issues of technology for the creation of ancient and medieval art works, as well as the
methods of their study, are considered. A wide range of experience is presented in field and laboratory
research, covering both the fundamental problems of early art and also the practical aspects, including
documentation techniques and the use of scientific methods. The chronological coverage of the materials
published ranges from the Paleolithic to the Middle Ages. Geographically sites and objects are presented
from Europe, Siberia, Kazakhstan, the Far East, Central and South Asia. The publication is aimed at
archaeologists, historians, art historians, museum workers and all those interested in ancient art
