Ian Berzin (Peteris Kiuzis) is a person who lived a brilliant and tragic life. He founded the Soviet Intelligence Service and since 1924 was the head of the Intelligence Bureau of the Red Army. In 1936-1937 he was the main war councilor in Spain. Owing to a number of rare personal qualities he became one of the most prominent figures of the Soviet Intelligence Service.
