The manual contains information and practical tasks on phonetics, vocabulary, word formation, morphology, spelling, syntax and stylistics of the Ukrainian language, as well as general information on Ukrainian literature. Linguistic phenomena of the Ukrainian language are considered in comparison with the corresponding linguistic phenomena of the Russian language. their similarities and differences between them, taking into account the frequency of their use in each of the languages. It is offered to study the Ukrainian language on short finished texts of Ukrainian authors, on proverbs and sayings, on aphorisms, and here they are often accompanied by translations of them in Russian in order to translate them back into Ukrainian, using newly learned language tools. Appropriate translations for comparison and self-examination are added to such exercises at the end of the manual. Each such text is equipped with a short Ukrainian-Russian dictionary.
