This book is dedicated to real pilots and navigators of the famous airplane Po-2 (U-2, “Kukuruznik”). To navigate that airplane one did not need any special skills, however, the tasks the crew had to accomplish required huge personal courage and total devotion. The crews of those airplanes made operational flight practically in any weather conditions, when other types of airplanes could not take off. Airplanes Po-2 made bombing and reconnaissance flights at night, baled out scouts, supplied encircled troops and partisans with necessary things, evacuated the wounded and transported the officers.
