At dawn on the 22nd of June, 1941, Soviet fighter pilots were the first to repulse the attack Luftwaffe aces. Many of the Russian pursuit pilots managed to begin the battle, whereas some found their destroyed planes on airfields or were killed before the take-off. The author devoted his book to those brave Soviet pilots who survived in the battles of the first months of 1941 War and through gaining experience, with the help of rearmament and up-to-date fighters changed the situation in the air and at the battle front of the Great Patriotic War.
