Danylo Yanevsky (born 1956) is a historian, TV presenter, Honored Journalist of Ukraine, Doctor of Historical Sciences, and founder of the Ukrainian Media Network. He runs his own telegram channel dedicated to the history of Ukraine. He believes that Ukrainians are a divided but global nation with a torn historical memory. For Yanevsky is characterized by the destruction of rigid myths, which crossed the mass consciousness. Proves this on the basis of analysis of published documentary collections, archival materials, other documentary sources, memoirs of participants in those events. Yanevsky is the author of a number of historical studies, more than 10 of which are from the Folio project series of the Ukraine publishing house. In the pages of this book, which is addressed not only to politicians, journalists, political scientists, but also to those readers who want to learn more about the history of their country, the author tries to form a holistic, consistent view of the phenomenon of national proto-state formations in modern Ukraine in 1917-1920. The researcher formulated his options for answers to the question: what is the "Ukrainian national liberation struggle"?, What hides the term "Ukrainian Revolution"?, What history was written by Mykhailo Hrushevsky?, What did the founder of the Ukrainian State Pavlo Skoropadsky see Ukraine?, Who, how and when did he actually create the Directory and who was behind Simon Petliura? You will learn what modern myth-makers hide about the turbulent events of 1917-1920, and you will form a consistent idea of what was really going on in modern Ukraine at that time.
