The great Bulgarian freedom-fighter Hristo Botev (1848-1876) undoubtedly played a pivotal role in the history of Bulgarian literature. His trademark works are his passionate poems which are closely linked to his revolutionary activities. The general reader is less familiar with his analyses of current affairs published in a number of newspapers at the time. The present book features Botev's most important current affairs analyses, now coming out on the occasion of his 145th death anniversary. They were selected by literary historian Dr. Nikolai Aretov of the Institute for Literature with the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
