“Despite everything, I still believe in the good in people...” In July 1942, thirteen-year-old Anne Frank and her family went into hiding in her father’s former company building in Amsterdam, fleeing Nazi persecution. Over the course of more than two years, Anne documented her time in hiding in detail in her diary, revealing her living conditions, her constant anxiety about being discovered, her longings and hopes, her hunger and fears. Her diary came to an abrupt end when the hiding place and its inhabitants were discovered by the Nazis in August 1944. However, it was saved from destruction, and it provides a precise and unforgettable portrait of a simple yet extraordinary teenage girl. This edition, edited by German children's writer and translator Mirjam Presler, is the final version of the book, combining two versions by Anne herself – the longer original and the shorter, edited material by the girl – as well as some previously unknown pages discovered at the end of the last century.
