Images of the holy Russian princes are an important part of the painting of the Moscow Kremlin Archangel Cathedral. They can be found on the columns among the ecumenical saints’ sacred images. The gallery of princes’ icons starts with the image of princess Olga, the first Christian woman ruler in Russia. The last Russian saint in that series of the Cathedral’s painting is Ignatii Vologodsky, who lived in the XVth – XVIth centuries. Basing on the annalistic evidences, the author tells us about lives and activities of the holy princes. The edition contains lots of illustrations. Besides the paintings of the Archangel Cathedral, it includes proper miniatures of the chronicles, icons from different Russian collections.
