Karl August Hindrey (1875–1947), who used the pseudonym Hoia Ronk, was one of the best-known and most colorful cultural figures of his time, whose life coincided largely with the fate of the Republic of Estonia. Although he wanted to become an artist, he became a journalist, then the compiler of Estonia's first mockery, then a public figure and writer.
