The author, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Galina Guryanova, analyzed how the formation of the local artistic environment was influenced by historical events in the country and the development of the regional education system, the construction of the fuel and energy complex and new Arctic cities. The art historian also traced the artistic ties between Yamal and the leading art centers of Russia. The author summarized the material for the monograph over six years, exploring the collections of Yamal museums. Currently, Galina Gennadievna is the only person who has collected important information about the history of the development of fine art in Yamal from 1921 to 2000.
