The book provides the history of the struggle between the Grand Duchy of Moscow and the Polish-Lithuanian Union in the second half of the XVth – the beginning of the XVIth centuries. It describes the annexation of Veliky Novgorod in 1478, the role of steppe peoples in the fight of the two states and the abolition of appanage principalities. The publication is written by Gennady Karpov, a well-known Russian historian of the XIXth century.
