The book by Elagin S.I. (1824-1868) was the first study on the history of the Navy of Russia. During his short life, the author investigated many archives, including Voronezh archive, and started a multi-volume history of the Russian Navy with the first volume, dedicated to Voronezh-Azov period. He studied in detail the reasons for Peter I to the construction of naval vessels in Voronezh, and presented in chronological order all the events associated with the creation of the fleet in Voronezh. This edition is dedicated to 315th anniversary of the Russian Navy in Voronezh and is a reproduction of the edition of 1864 while preserving the original language.
